Edgefield County: A Thriving Community for Veterans

This article was published in The Edgefield Advertiser on Wednesday July 24, 2024

According to recent data from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Edgefield County ranks 16th out of the state’s 46 counties in terms of veteran population. Our county is home to approximately 1,950 veterans, representing around 8% of the county's total population. This significant presence of former service members highlights the county's deep-rooted appreciation for those who have served our nation in uniform.

While Edgefield County is home to nearly 2,000 veterans, only about 10% of them continue to serve through the various veteran service organizations in the county. This relatively low participation rate represents a missed opportunity for veterans to stay connected, support one another, and give back to the community. By joining organizations like the American Legion, veterans can maintain the sense of purpose and camaraderie they experienced during their military service, while also making a positive impact on the lives of their fellow veterans, their families, and the community.

For veterans in Edgefield County seeking to continue their legacy of service and make a positive impact on their community, American Legion Post 30 stands ready to welcome them.
